Dr. Bindu Methikalam completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at Pace University in New York City and then received her master’s in Counseling Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University, and her doctorate in Counseling Psychology at The Pennsylvania State University in 2008. She completed her APA Accredited Internship at the Counseling and Psychological Services Center at the Pennsylvania State University and post-doctoral residency in college student mental health at Princeton University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Her clinical interests include working with adults struggling with ethnic identity development, grief, adjustment, depression, and family and relationship concerns.
Dr. Methikalam emphasizes creating a safe and comfortable space where clients can explore ways of relating with others, thoughts, and emotions. She actively works on understanding her clients’ socio-cultural identities and helps them gain a better understanding of themselves and the meaning of their symptoms. She works collaboratively with her clients to set goals so that they can be more satisfied and fulfilled with their lives.
