Jorge Balverdi is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been working as a therapist for over fifteen years, helping people cope with a variety of challenges, including severe trauma, depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflicts and life crises. Jorge conducts individual therapy with adolescents and adults and his therapeutic style is integrative, incorporating psychodynamic theory and cognitive strategies to help promote wellness and assist his clients in establishing and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships.
Treatment with Jorge is always trauma-informed and he is continually striving to improve his ability to help those who have been traumatized. As part of that effort, Jorge is currently enrolled in a program offered through Harvard Medical School’s Program in Refugee Trauma to obtain certification in Global Mental Health and Trauma.
Jorge is a native Spanish speaker and he conducts therapy sessions fluently in both English and Spanish. He has limited proficiency in Portuguese and Italian as well. Jorge prides himself in his ability to provide culturally sensitive treatment to individuals from all walks of life.
In addition to conducting individual therapy sessions, Jorge also works with couples and he has specific expertise in working with those who have had issues with domestic violence in the relationship.
