Evelyn Shoop, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Evelyn Shoop, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy-informed care for adolescents and adults, ages 14 and up.

Evelyn understands that seeking mental health treatment—and discussing personal or painful life experiences—can feel vulnerable and intimidating. She approaches each patient with warmth, empathy, authenticity, and genuine curiosity about their individual experiences. Her goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable speaking openly and feel heard, respected, and understood.

Evelyn views psychiatric treatment as a collaborative process. Rather than focusing only on symptoms or medication, she takes time to understand the whole person, including each patient’s history, current circumstances, strengths, concerns, and goals. She works closely with patients to develop individualized treatment plans and incorporates therapeutic strategies into her work when appropriate. Her goal is to help patients better understand their mental health, make informed decisions about their care, and move toward meaningful and sustainable improvement.

Evelyn earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and completed advanced postgraduate training through ChristianaCare’s Behavioral Health Advanced Practice Clinician Fellowship. Her clinical experience includes inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, addiction medicine, and psychiatric consultation within hospital settings. She has experience working with individuals facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related and dissociative symptoms, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, mood disorders, substance use concerns, psychosis, and serious mental illness.

Evelyn also has a strong professional interest in emerging approaches to mental health treatment, including ketamine and psychedelic-assisted therapies. She has presented on these topics through academic programs, national conferences, and international organizations and continues to pursue specialized education and training in these evolving areas of psychiatric care.
